Inaugural and Acceptance Speech
by: Hon. Herlo P. Guzman, Jr.
Municipal Mayor (2013-2016)
June 28, 2013
Municipal Gym, Kabacan, Cotabato
I am deeply honored to stand before you today as the new Local Chief Executive of Kabacan. A great challenge awaits of me as the youngest elected Municipal Mayor of this known exigent town. Blessed with resources, yet unfortunately, defied and disturbed by unstable circumstances. Kabacan doesn’t deserve these, neither we Kabacaños!
Let me greet you with a pleasant morning! Today, opens a new dawn of hope. With the new leadership that is full of desires and hopes, ready & dynamic enough to do what is best for us. The primary thing, which I prioritize, is to give peace a chance in Kabacan! We will strive to restore peace and order in our municipality. I believe that once peace is established, definitely, development follows.
As I take the baton of leadership, to the different sectors and to you all whom I considered as stakeholders of this beloved town, may I humbly appeal for your full support. With the present situation of Kabacan, it needs a collaborative effort. Transforming it into a better one, is everybody’s responsibility. I cannot do it alone. I may have all the dreams for a better Kabacan, but I admit that I am not a perfect leader, though I promise that I’ll be doing my best. I need you all to complement my weaknesses and limitations. I am not a magician who can transform Kabacan in just a wink of an eye. To cure an infected municipality, with the virus of disorder and criminalities, needs a procedural remedy and medication. It could not be done abruptly. It needs a process and it takes time. Huwag ho sana tayong maiinip at magmamadali. Sa ganang akin, I’ll surely give my very best, along with the help of the new set of the legislative body, the Sangguniang Bayan Members headed by Vice-Mayor Myra Dulay, together with the assistance of the different offices of the LGU, our dear employees.
But one thing for sure, I have the best weapon with me, better than Juan dela Cruz’ iron cross.
As we all together face the challenges for a better Kabacan, we will take what we’ve learned over the last couple of years. We continue moving forward and utilize new opportunities. Expect various people-driven projects in the near future. May I mention to you my initial executive agenda.
1. Peace and order….
2. Strengthen partnership….
3. Climate change initiative….
4. Farm to market road..
5. Social services..
Nais ko hong iparating ang aking taos-pusong pasasalamat sa lahat ng mga sumuporta sa aking kandidatura: sa aking pamilya who served as my inspiration, my better half Gelyn and my 3 angels, my parents, siblings and parents-in-law, uncles and aunties, mga kapartido, mga kaibigan, barangay officials, sectoral members, religious group, at sa inyo hong lahat, maraming-maraming salamat po! Sa ating former Mayor George B. Tan and the previous set of the Legislative Body, thank you for your leadership and for the services you have rendered.
Tapos na po ang eleksiyon, let us unify ourselves regardless of our tribal and political affiliations. Let us work sincerely with the common purpose of developing and making Kabacan a better place to live in!
Godbless everyone! Godbless Kabacan!
